The Mysteries and Miracles of Nature

There is a fun local event going on from September 12th thru 14th at Severson Dells called the Mysteries and Miracles of Nature.

Severson Dells is an awesome nature center/environmental learning center in our home county of Winnebago. Sitting on a 369-acre forest preserve, this facility has taught thousands of kids wonderful things about nature. This event features many wonderful programs but two that stand out are:

  • Bobby Harrison’s presentation about rediscovering the Ivory-billed Woodpecker
  • The World Bird Sanctuary‘s raptor flight display

If you happen to be in the Rockford, Illinois area during this time, stop by if you can. The forest preserve offers nice hiking trails for people that wish to do some birding too. Fall migration is really picking up, and in a couple weeks will be amazing. Oh, and the whole thing is absolutely FREE.

The Birdfreak Team will not be able to attend this event because we will be in the Quad Cities at the Midwest Birding Symposium.

Here are some pictures from a World Bird Sanctuary trip we took in 2004. Location: near St. Louis, Missouri.

  1. I’ll give it a try…after googling owl pics, then World Bird Sanctuary, how about an Eurasian Eagle Owl?
