A horrible tragedy fell upon our school yesterday, affecting us greatly. The Birdfreak Team consists of alumni and current students of Northern Illinois University and our hearts are broken. We are receiving incredible support from family, friends, and other universities, which we appreciate immensely.
This photo came from a support group consisting of Virginia Tech students who immediately posted prayers for all NIU students through the networking site Facebook.
Here I am in upstate NY and when I was told of this terrible event, the first folks I thought of were YOU.
Many hearts go out to your community. You are in our thoughts.
What an amazing thing the blog community is.
Addendum: As an aside, I am a native Illinoisan and a graduate of Illinois State University. Though in the northeast for the last 17 years, I’m still a midwesterner at heart.
Hugs from Peru, our prayers are with you all.
I had no idea this tradgedy was so closely connected to all of you. It brought tears to my eyes as I read this post. I can only pray for healing for you and all the families and students concerned. My you find peace in your hearts soon, and healing on your campus. May the songs and the beauty of the birds carry your spirits through this dark time.
You and all those involved with this tradgedy remain in my thoughts and prayers.
You and your team are most definitely in my thoughts. Let your nature preserve soothe, let the birds sing you peace.
thanks so much – it means a LOT to hear your thoughts and prayers!
