Horned Lark (Eremophila alpestris) in Boone County, Illinois
Birds, Conservation & the Great Outdoors
We love to travel to find new birds and participate in a lot of bird counts. We also created a Guide to Birding Field Guides and host a collection of over 300 birding links from all over the globe.
While our main focus continues to be birds, we promote other areas of conservation as well. Conserving land not only benefits wildlife, but is hugely beneficial to people as well.
We love all sorts of outdoor activities, especially hiking and spend a lot of time outside with dogs and horses. We are working to produce more articles on all sorts of outdoor fun!
Every week we bring you Bird Photography Weekly. We periodically talk about our adventures in digiscoping. Feel free to browse our photo lifelist.

I’ve never seen a lark in my whole life (real time that is, not a photo.) I don’t know that that will ever change. Thanks for sharing your photo!

Love the Horned Lark! Though they are common around here they are not always the easiest bird to get a good look at. I love it when there is a light snow on the fields for that is when the beauty of the bird (as you have caputered so well) really stands out!

Nice job capturing a photo of the Horned lark in the snow.-Sometimes those pictures don’t come out well.
