The more I thought about it, there are lots of great birding websites, much more than a Top 5 or Top 20 could really do justice too. Here are a few that should be checked out. Birdlife International – A great organization and one I have not spent enough time exploring fully. Great information about
Rock Cut State Park – Introduction
One of my favorite places to bird is Rock Cut State Park, located in Winnebago County in Illinois. The park is not huge but it is nestled in an area that is increasingly getting more “developed” and is a great place to go to get away from all the traffic and bustle of the city.Â
Snow Bunting on the Border
After leaving work a bit early Veery, SnowyOwl and I headed to a gravel road south of Rockford to look for Snow Buntings. I love birding deserted country gravel roads by farm fields. The problem is that the marsh

I’m talking
Central Selva Protection Area – Peru
Nature Conservancy Site of the Week – #1 Kicking off a weekly feature of this blog is the first Nature Conservancy Site of the Week, the Central Selva Protection Area. Located in the eastern slope of the Andes in Peru, the Central Selva Protection Area includes Yanachaga-Chemillen National Park at almost 300,000 acres. The Conservancy
Winter Hummingbirds
There has been a lot of action (posts) on the Wisconsin Birding List of late discussing wintering/vagrant (lost?) hummingbirds especially since there are two probable Rufous Hummingbirds at separate locations in Wisconsin. The weather in northern Illinois has been frigid so these hummers are certainly tough. I have three points to make about the posting:
