Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, Kauai, Hawaii

We visited Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge twice during our honeymoon in Hawaii. Both times we saw a ton of cool birds but the second visit netted one of our biggest target birds: Laysan Albatross.

The picture below shows the Laysan Albatross “runway” where the birds launch themselves towards the ocean. Behind the grassy area in the trees is where we saw both an adult and young albatross. They looked massive even from the distance but too far for an adequate photo.
