Although they’ve been out awhile I thought I would write a quick post about Kenn Kaufman’s Field Guides to North American Birds. What is super cool about Kaufman is that he created the first (and I believe ONLY) bird field guide in Spanish! I think Kenn lost money on the book but still what a great tool to promote birding to a growing segment of the U.S. population and to our neighbors to the south. Many of us birders love to go to the “borderlands” of the U.S. and by promoting birding to Spanish-speaking individuals it encourages us to bird across borders. Remember, birds don’t care about artificial lines. They need conservation EVERYWHERE! And bird guides help by promoting just how cool birds really are.
