Bird Photography Weekly #53 – Year Two Already!!

Wow!! Today marks the 53rd edition of Bird Photography Weekly and the beginning of the second year of bird photography greatness! Join in on the fun and spread the word like crazy!!

It is hard to believe a whole year has passed since we introduced this new concept. Our first week we had a respectable 11 submissions. Over the weeks the numbers increased steadily as word spread. In May of 2009 we recorded our best total of 33 submissions (perhaps as migration was in full swing).

The number of wonderful photo-links is stunning: over 1,000 links or roughly 19 a week!! We hope to smash that total in this second year as we conquer some of the difficulties using “Mister Linky” and discover new ways to share this wonderful photo-sharing meme.

  1. I’m showing a Northern Mockingbird this week, and information on an interesting study recently conducted on them.

  2. Congrats on a great year of gathering together some excellent nature photographers and bird photos. I’ve really enjoyed finding the sites of so many excellent photogs out there!

My humble tribute this week is a few photos of Whimbrel.

  3. Thank you for 2 years of great work and happy anniversary!

My submission this week is titled “The Blueberry Bandit” featuring a juvenile Pileated Woodpecker.

  4. Congrats on a fantastic year of bird photography, gang! And a big thanks a “great job!” to you, Eddie!

My week’s submission is a quartet of personality-rich Cattle Egrets. Enjoy!

  5. Haven’t been getting much for photos lately (plenty of great birds though), but since it’s a party I pulled a shorebird flock from the archives.
