Well the groundhog was out-shadowed this year as Ohioans continue battling wind, snow, ice and sleet. The Midwest storm that gave Rockford between one and two feet of snow and blizzard winds came over our way in many different forms. Findlay still got snow, but also ice and sleet – and a whole lotta wind. 40mph winds made it a no-brainer to cancel school, events and even factories in the area.
Snow, with layers of ice and sleet
The birds were on the move this week, bringing two Northern Mockingbirds and over a hundred American Robins to our yard (like last year’s snowy robin-fest) but in the wind we really couldn’t land a decent photo.
Snow piling up on the neighbors’ windows.
Good and bad news for Dakota and I – my parents get to spend a little more time as they were visiting to help me with a gallbladder surgery (fun!). Luckily they will be back in time to cheer on the Packers (while Dakota roots on the Steelers here).
Good (safe) Winter Birding!!!
