Woodlink Bird Feeder and OpenSky Sale

by The Birdfreak Team on December 7, 2009

Birdfreak.com is partnered with OpenSky. We have a store of items at OpenSky that we have/use or recommend their use. We have 50 special $15.00 off a $20.00 item holiday coupons if you purchase through our store. Make sure to include BIRDFREAK as your favorite shopkeeper.

We have used a wide variety of bird feeders from home-made ones out of wood to fancy metal ones and everything in between. Finding a great feeder is difficult. And some of the best looking ones seem to not attract birds.

Woodlink Bird Feeder

We recently got this Woodlink cedar feeder that has room for a good amount of seed (we use sunflower seeds) and has a suet cage on opposing sides.

We love a feeder that has versatility. The main feed area can hold any type of seed and the suet cages are positioned far enough to not interfere with different birds feeding. We had two Black-capped Chickadees taking turns eating while a White-breasted Nuthatch fed in the middle.

The construction of the Woodlink feeder seems strong and the hanging cord is adequate. We did have to remove it (with a screwdriver) in order to move it over the roof of the feeder. With a winter storm coming in over the next couple of days we hope to see more bird activity and how it withstands some harsh conditions.

You can purchase the feeder here. And stay tuned this week for a post on Christmas Bird Count preparation products.

Sorry we didn’t get any photos of birds on the feeder. Our digital SLR is inoperable at the moment so I’ve been using a camera from work but did not have it over the weekend when I could have gotten some shots.

Looks like a really sturdy feeder. On the Christmas note, I just bought a hummingbird feeder from http://www.birdfeeders.com/store/hummingbird-feeders/122tf. You ever seen these? They fill from the top so it’s easy to clean, I have no idea why it took so long for this to come out ! I’d love to hear your thoughts about the feeders if you’ve ever used them. Thanks!
