Birding

We love to travel to find new birds and participate in a lot of bird counts. We also created a Guide to Birding Field Guides and host a collection of over 300 birding links from all over the globe.

Conservation

While our main focus continues to be birds, we promote other areas of conservation as well. Conserving land not only benefits wildlife, but is hugely beneficial to people as well.

Outdoors

We love all sorts of outdoor activities, especially hiking and spend a lot of time outside with dogs and horses. We are working to produce more articles on all sorts of outdoor fun!

Photography

Every week we bring you Bird Photography Weekly. We periodically talk about our adventures in digiscoping. Feel free to browse our photo lifelist.

Winter Visit to the Garfield Park Conservatory – Chicago

With a huge (potentially “historic”) snowstorm looming we (Stacia and me) spent a few hours over the past weekend visiting Garfield Park Conservatory in nearby Chicago, Illinois. It was a great respite from the winter “blahs” to be surrounded by palm trees and other tropical plants plus desert flora and blooming plants.

The weather outside was around 32 degrees and sunless but inside was warm and humid and full of greenery.

It was my first visit to the conservatory and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area, especially in winter. It was a fabulous treat to retreat from winter for a few hours and enjoy an amazing array of plant life.

I was able to get to you blog from work today. I’ll try again from home tonight & if I’m still having a problem, I’ll know it’s something to do with my computer or our ISP.
