If you are looking to learn about birds from a truly expert source, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology Handbook of Bird Biology is an amazing resource. Often referred to as “Bird University”, this textbook of bird knowledge is a must for every birder’s quest to become more knowledgeable. Dare we say even an expert?

I think the post above made some interesting points, on a related side note I found a used version of Ornithology which is directly related to this topic for less than the bookstores at http://www.belabooks.com/books/9780716749837.htm
