Birding

We love to travel to find new birds and participate in a lot of bird counts. We also created a Guide to Birding Field Guides and host a collection of over 300 birding links from all over the globe.

Conservation

While our main focus continues to be birds, we promote other areas of conservation as well. Conserving land not only benefits wildlife, but is hugely beneficial to people as well.

Outdoors

We love all sorts of outdoor activities, especially hiking and spend a lot of time outside with dogs and horses. We are working to produce more articles on all sorts of outdoor fun!

Photography

Every week we bring you Bird Photography Weekly. We periodically talk about our adventures in digiscoping. Feel free to browse our photo lifelist.

Phriday Photo – Baby Squirrel

Article in: Photography

This cute little baby squirrel was trying to get back to his nest hole in a sycamore tree. We got a ladder out and I tried to lift him up there but it was too high.

Baby Squirrel

He had fallen out of the hole and the bark was bare right below so he could not find enough grip to make it back up. Eventually, he found his way to another tree and was joined by an adult squirrel.

Shikepoke is another name used for Green Heron. The first time I ever heard this term was when my uncle referred to one trying to steal fish from him. I had no idea what he was talking about at the time!

After such a dreary and long winter it is nice to see some colorful flowers coming up in the yard. The trees are budding nicely as well!

Bella was enjoying exploring in what we refer to as “the forbidden area”. This is a fenced off area of the yard that we usually keep the dogs out of to let the plants grow better.
