The San Diego County Bird Atlas is a project of the San Diego Natural History Museum.

400 volunteer observers worked from February 1997 to February 2002 using a grid of 479 square across this large county.

San Diego County has a very diverse bird population. They won the 2002′s America’s Birdiest City contest held by the American Birding Association
