While gulls are not our strong suit (although we’ve added to our arsenal to improve this handicap), who doesn’t love the antics of gulls? This Ring-billed Gull was digiscoped with our Swarovski 80 HD spotting scope along the master of all rivers, the Mississippi.
I was surprised to learn (although I shouldn’t have been,) that the Niagara River is considered one of the best places in the world to gull watch. I used to work for the hydro company there, so I had access to areas that tourists could only dream of. I saw flocks of gulls so large it seemed no small miracle that they weren’t constantly crashing into each other.
