A bird knows nothing of gladness,
Is only a song machine.

Never seen one before! Great!
Your pic. inspired me to inquire of you!
Here in my city of Coronado, Ca., the olive trees are now sprayed with something that keeps them from making olives. I have loved watching the birds rejoice with gladness whenever the numerous trees supplied them with their bounty. Now they have nothing. Doesn’t this seem shortsighted to keep the streets clean of olives but not feed the birds?
Cool!!
Cindy – unfortunately there is a lot of short-sightedness with regard to this sort of thing. Many cities “landscape” in such ways as to make things look unnatural and artificially “pretty” when leaving nature alone is always more beautiful.
The Blue-headed Vireo was one of my earlier migrants this year. I hadn’t seen one in a long time, so it was quite welcome.
