Birding

We love to travel to find new birds and participate in a lot of bird counts. We also created a Guide to Birding Field Guides and host a collection of over 300 birding links from all over the globe.

Conservation

While our main focus continues to be birds, we promote other areas of conservation as well. Conserving land not only benefits wildlife, but is hugely beneficial to people as well.

Outdoors

We love all sorts of outdoor activities, especially hiking and spend a lot of time outside with dogs and horses. We are working to produce more articles on all sorts of outdoor fun!

Photography

Every week we bring you Bird Photography Weekly. We periodically talk about our adventures in digiscoping. Feel free to browse our photo lifelist.

OYBC Central Takes Flight with Service Learning

The OYBC Conference in Columbus, Ohio had amazing young speakers this year! We thought they were so good – we would write about each one of them separately!

OYBC Central Takes Flight with Service Learning
Speaker: Doug

OYBC conference 194
Doug is a member of the Youth Advisory Panel of the Central Ohio chapter of the Ohio Young Birders Club.

We first met Doug at the Shreve Migration Sensation in Shreve, Ohio and have since seen him at Magee Marsh and the Midwest Birding Symposium in Lakeside, Ohio. He is a great birder and a lot of fun!

Doug is not only an intelligent, enthusiastic birder but also a charismatic speaker. His presentation led us through three service projects the Central chapter has worked on this year. They put up new bird feeders at an elementary school which now is part of school’s science curriculum. They also put up swallow/bluebird boxes at Glacier Ridge Metro Park (with successful results) and have built and soon will be erecting an Osprey platform along the Scioto River.

His talk was funny and informative and a great way to kick off the speaking portion of the conference. Doug was also the Master of Ceremony and did a fabulous job!
