Birding

We love to travel to find new birds and participate in a lot of bird counts. We also created a Guide to Birding Field Guides and host a collection of over 300 birding links from all over the globe.

Conservation

While our main focus continues to be birds, we promote other areas of conservation as well. Conserving land not only benefits wildlife, but is hugely beneficial to people as well.

Outdoors

We love all sorts of outdoor activities, especially hiking and spend a lot of time outside with dogs and horses. We are working to produce more articles on all sorts of outdoor fun!

Photography

Every week we bring you Bird Photography Weekly. We periodically talk about our adventures in digiscoping. Feel free to browse our photo lifelist.

No Scope, No Car, No Problem!

The OYBC Conference in Columbus, Ohio had amazing young speakers this year! We thought they were so good – we would write about each one of them separately!

No Scope, No Car, No Problem!
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Rachel

ABA’s Young Birder of the Year
OYBC conference 211

Rachel is an awesome speaker and the winner of the ABA’s Young Birder of Year contest! Her study area was her home in northern Wisconsin and the bird that got her interested in birding was the common but oh-so-beautiful Song Sparrow.

We thouroghly enjoyed Rachel’s presentation style as she described her area of study, the birds she observed and the writings she came up with. An amazing birder who showed us that you don’t have to go far and you don’t even need a car to enjoy and research birds.

Rachel, along with all of the other wonderful speakers, makes me confident that our birds have a future. There are so many young people that are ALREADY conservationists. Any chance you have to encourage, listen to or teach a young birder gives our birds a better chance in the years to come.

CONGRATULATIONS RACHEL ON WINNING THE ABA’S YOUNG BIRDER OF THE YEAR CONTEST!
