Kishwaukee River in Winter
The Kishwaukee River in Winnebago county (N. Illinois) is always good for birding and a gorgeous place all times of the year. The recent snow (and more snow Sunday) creates a nice effect on the bare trees and flowing water.

There was a Red-tailed Hawk flying around but the pictures didn’t turn out that well. We spotted bushels of Tree (bush?) Sparrows and a Belted Kingfisher was patrolling the river.

I have taken up the hobby of writing Birdfreak.com in the snow at area forest preserves. This preserve was devoid of any humans but a gang of Chickadees scolded our efforts. Otherwise the birding was a little weak so it was back to work on our various conservation projects.
