How the Design Process Works

STEP ONE: Choose your domain name

Your domain name is the address that people type in to go directly to your site. It is important to pick one that is meaningful and unique. When we plan out your site we will help you decide on a name based on your club or whatever you wish it to be. The cost is $10.00 per domain name.

STEP TWO: Hosting Your Site

The next step for your site is to choose a hosting plan. 99.9% of birding sites can do just fine with a basic hosting plan. This includes:

  • 5 GB space - enough storage for plenty of photos and articles
  • 250 GB transfer - plenty, even if you plan on hosting videos
  • 500 email accounts - each of your club members can have their own email address

The cost to host your site for 1 year is $45.00 ($3.75/month) - hosted through Godaddy

STEP THREE: Let the Fun Stuff Begin

Now you have reached the best part, choosing a site design and picking features for you site. The websites we create for you are based on public templates created by people all over the world. We use these as the starting point for creating an easy-to-use website in the format of a blog. Why a Blog? Blogs are best for bird clubs for the following reasons:

  1. They are easier to update on a regular basis
  2. They require little experience in website coding
  3. They provide excellent integration of photos and links
  4. They are customizable and provide archived records
  5. They allow multiple members access to contribute content as well as one (or more) administrators
  6. They can be subscribed to, meaning users that choose to can have updates sent to them through email or a feed reader
