Birding

We love to travel to find new birds and participate in a lot of bird counts. We also created a Guide to Birding Field Guides and host a collection of over 300 birding links from all over the globe.

Conservation

While our main focus continues to be birds, we promote other areas of conservation as well. Conserving land not only benefits wildlife, but is hugely beneficial to people as well.

Outdoors

We love all sorts of outdoor activities, especially hiking and spend a lot of time outside with dogs and horses. We are working to produce more articles on all sorts of outdoor fun!

Photography

Every week we bring you Bird Photography Weekly. We periodically talk about our adventures in digiscoping. Feel free to browse our photo lifelist.

Bird Banding

In Winnebago County in northern Illinois, we are lucky to have a state-of-the-art bird banding facility. Located within Colored Sands Forest Preserve, the Sand Bluff Bird Observatory (SBBO) provides scientific studies on bird migration, aging, and more and is open to the public for observation.

There are banding facilities located across the country and they provide one of the finest ways to learn about birds. Not only do you get closeup views of birds that are often difficult to see in the field, but you are rewarded with expert information about these birds. The data that is collected from bird banding helps provide helpful information about birds that can be used for bird conservation efforts.

By going bird banding you can improve your birding and by supporting bird banding efforts, you help with bird conservation. Plus, it is a great way to meet other birders!
