Back to Blogging Again

Well, it has been nearly a year since anyone at Birdfreak.com has posted any new content and even then, the posts were sporadic for about a year prior.

So today I am happy to announce that we are going to try and return to regular blogging. The goal is 1-3 posts each week, more during spring and summer, less during the fall and winter months. We want to continue our focus on bird conservation and reviews of various bird and natural history books.

We also plan on extending our focus on backyard habitats, with real-world examples from our own yards (in Illinois and Ohio).

And it is also a continuing goal to promote the love of nature to young children. Now that I have two little ones of my own, this has grown in personal importance. (It was always important, but now I have a direct influence on my kids and their natural experience.)

Looking forward to many more years of blogging!

The site has been updated to a new theme and will be undergoing some cosmetic and organizational changes in the upcoming days, weeks, and months.

  1. I am planning on birding Sand Ridge State Park in late April. Any suggestions or tips on where to see the birds?

  2. Blue – Sand Ridge is huge so it depends on how much time you have to explore. I’d probably start with the trails west of the Horseman’s Camp… or maybe the areas north and south of Sand Ridge Road. I have only been there once and we hiked and hiked all over without any real plan in mind.
