Technology should be used in things like these, keeping people together, informed and sharing findings and information, with relatively cheap means, some of them even free, but that can be interactive and keep people interested and as you said, updated! Hopefully they, and other associations and groups will start using these tools to make conservation topics easy to find, share and learn/teach, for people outside the country! (like me!!!)
